It requires no active thought, and combined with its comfortable design, the SE 2 seamlessly integrates into your daily life without a hitch. While this should be expected, it’s not a given in the world of smartwatches.

The Apple Health and Apple Fitness apps do exhibit some data overlap, making it slightly frustrating to locate specific information. Additionally, you won’t find the same level of data granularity as you would with products from Garmin, Polar, or Fitbit. On its own, the Apple Watch SE 2nd generation is ideal for casual exercisers but may not meet the needs of marathon runners who demand extensive data analysis. However, third-party apps are available to provide additional information if desired. In my experience, comparing workout tracking with the Apple Watch Ultra, I didn’t observe any significant differences in heart rate, calorie burn, or ease of use.

Apple’s activity goal system, based on rings, is easy to understand but doesn’t offer deep insights into areas for improvement. However, this isn’t a concern unless you’re a hardcore athlete. The Apple Watch SE 2nd generation caters to individuals more concerned with overall health, offering an accurate, user-friendly tracking experience complemented by an informative yet uncomplicated app platform.

While you may occasionally miss the always-on screen if you opt for the Apple Watch SE 2nd generation, there are moments when you’ll appreciate its absence, as it conserves battery life. Apple claims that the Watch SE 2 provides the same 18 hours of usage as the Series 8. However, in practice, unless you engage in daily GPS-tracked workouts, this estimate appears conservative.
